Recording your screen: Area, Screen, or Window

1 min
Last updated on:

Screen recording works the same way as screenshots, with a floating control border while you record.

Starting a recording

  • Video → Area (⌘⇧9) — record a specific rectangle; you can drag to move the crop even while recording.
  • Video → Screen (⌘⇧8) — record the full display.
  • Video → Window… (⌘⇧5) — pick an exact window from a live thumbnail picker.
  • Repeat last capture (⌘⇧0) — instantly re-runs your last area/screen/window setup and camera state.

While recording

The floating border lets you toggle the camera bubble, choose audio sources (Microphone and System Audio can be turned on independently), show or hide your pointer, copy a share link before the recording even finishes, or stop.
